Fredi Malle Malle Friedrich was born in 1968 and since 1984 he is a member of the Folkdancegroup Lindwurm. He has made his first experience with folk dancing in the folk dance group for children in Klagenfurt. Since many years he is a very popular, ambitious and successful trainer of "Schuhplatteln" in our group.

Explaining "Schuhplatteln"

"Schuhplatteln" is a kind of dance just for guys and its roots go back to the 18th century. Countries of origin are Bayern (Germany) and Tyrol (Austria). The guys are going to court for the favour of a girl by demonstrating their skill and fitness. They slap on their thighs and on the soles, clap their hands and stamp with their feet. These are signs of high spirit, happiness and pleasure.

As this is a hard job our guys meet once a week to learn new "Schuhplattler" and to brush up the old ones. You will get a good stamina and you remain agile when you practise "Schuhplatteln".

Who can do "Schuhplatteln"

Everybody who wants to learn it and who is prepared to become a member of the folk dance group Lindwurm.
