A friend wanted to persuade me to come to the folk dance group but I told her that I don’t like dancing polka, waltz and hum ta ta. Some years later I had to revise my opinion as Maria took me to a rehearsal and I found out that folk dancing is not boring, it’s varied and funny. In the meantime I am a dancer since 1987 and I like the “Lindwürmer” because confidence, community and friendship are basic principles in this group. Apart from our rehearsals and performances in Austria and abroad we organize parties, we go hiking, skiing, or we guys simply drink a beer together. I don’t want to miss all these events. Try it yourself! You can reach me under: suppik.ronald@aon.at

I am a graduated physiotherapist and my motto is “life is movement” that means I like hiking, skiing, pedalling, swimming and of course dancing. I like any kind of dance but folk dancing has a special importance in my life.

Hello! One day Fredi and myself have thought of the possibility of being still an active member of our dance group with 70, 80 or 90 years – without teeth and shaky. That means a life without the “Lindwürmer” is unimaginable for me as I have many friends within the group and my husband is a dancer as well. So our children belong to the “club-kids” and they learn togetherness and friendship in this community.

Hi, my name is E.M. I am a group member since 1997. After a joint journey to South Africa I have remained within the group. We cultivate our cultural heritage but also organize many private affairs (hiking, bowling, barbecues etc.).

Wir pflegen unser Kulturgut, machen aber auch viele private Dinge zusammen (Kegeln, Wandern, Grillen usw.).

I am Lisa, my mother’s name is U.T. and my father is J.S. My mother is dancing in the group since 13 yeas and has passed many wonderful hours and impressing trips with her friends in the group. Since November 2002 I am the focus of her life - her sunshine. Although she is making a dance-break at the moment she is still in contact with the group members and on the occasion of parties our whole family is always welcome. When I am gown up they will take part in the rehearsals again and maybe me too because I already know … folk dancing is amusing.

My name is Elisabeth Putz and I am living in Klagenfurt-Viktring. I have achieved a youth-dream with becoming a member of a folk dancing group. Since the first telephone call with Doris and the visit of a rehearsal I feel very well within this group. My sun is 17 and he is lucky with me. I am working at the insurance UNIQU

I am Doris Zabernig. My first rehearsal was 15 years ago when my sister Silvia persuaded me to accompany her. My enthusiasm has not become smaller within the last years. Dancing is a compensation to my busy life as employee and mother of Philipp and Christian. As we organize many events it’s never boring within the group.

This is our first year as dancers in the folk dancing group Lindwurm but we have been members at the children’s dance group in Klagenfurt for 5 resp. 10 years. We have already visited many neighbour-countries but also Hungary, Portugal, Spain, England, Lettland and China with this group. We are looking forward to the great 50th birthday of the “Lindwürmer” in June/July 2003. On this occasion we will also play with our instruments, the dulcimer and the guitar.

Me I am an “old” Lindwurm as I am a member of the group for more than 20 years. I have been member of different groups but I have always liked this group most. When I was a child I have been a member of the children’s folk dance of the “friends of the nature” in Klagenfurt - they wanted me as musician (accordion and clarinet) but I only wanted to be a dancer. During my youth I preferred classic and latin-american dances. But as I have many other hobbies as sailing and hiking in summer and skiing in winter I have never had time for a dance club. During my studies I returned to the folk dance group and I am still member of the group and my children since 2002 as well.

Since 1990 I am married with our President RH. We have a son, Bernhard who was born in 1993 and a daughter, Daniela, who was born in 1995. I have been a member of a folk dance group since I am 12 years old.

Some years ago I have started to play the "Styrian Harmonica". Above all I enjoy playing together with other musicians.

VTG Lindwurm is not only a dance group, we are friends and together we visit different events, make trips or we have long and fruitful discussions, especially when we prepare a surprise for a marriage or a birthday party. Besides I am an enthuastic member of a theatre group in Moosburg/Kärnten.

When my spouse Doris tried to persuade me to getting a member of the folk dance group I was not amused as I have already been the member of the fire brigade and a band before. But already the first rehearsal showed me that this is a special group with so nice members and I wanted to collaborate actively within short time. In 1992 I was elected as President of the group and I still execute this function. I have found many friends in the group and it is always a pleasure for me to organize events and the participation in festivals all over the world. We also pass a big part of our leisure together; we feel like members of a big family. It is a great luck for me being a member of this group because otherwise we would not have so many memories to many different countries and events. My ears are always open for proposals and requests. You can reach me under vtg.lindwurm@aon.at or on my mobile phone 0664/629 34 34.

Hello internetsurfer!

Since 14 years I have been a member of the "folk dance-group L.Kl" and I still like dancing, travelling, going to the rehearsals, performing .

I have made a lot of friends in our group and together we visit musicals or go hiking. Being member of this group is a welcome change for my job as network-administrator.

The "Lindwürmer" are a part of my life and I like them very much. If you don't believe it come to our rehearsals and try dancing yourself. Here you will forget the old cliché of "folkdancers".

No one of our group is an old-fashioned alcoholic; we want to maintain tradition and cultural heritage and we also want to have much fun

Dancing in the folk dance group Lindwurm is my hobby since more than 12 years. Together we have made marvellous journeys and we have shown austrian tradition here in Austria and abroad.

I am very proud when I take part in an international festival and we perform on the stage and show our folk dances and thousands of spectators watch us.

My son Peter is 5 years old and he is the reason why I can not participate in every rehearsal. But when I take part in a rehearsal after some weeks of absence I always have the feeling of being welcome. This is a great feeling.

I am member of the group since 10 years as dancing is my passion.

You have the possibility to meet new people, to revive old and new traditions and to travel around the world. I am married since 3 years, my husband is not a dancer, but he is always welcome. I am happy to be a member of the group, I don't want to miss it.

My name is Marietta Köllich, I am member of the group since 1990. I am married and have 3 daughters. I have met my husband within the group.

We are farmers and most of our products are sold directly from our farmhouse. We also sell our products on the occasion of different events of the dance group.

At the moment I am very busy because of the children, but whenever there is some time left I join the group. The most beautiful experience for me was our journey to Brazil in 1996. I still remember it with pleasure.

I am a member since 1984 and I have been a member of the children’s dance group in the years before. After one year I was elected as leader of the guy’s dances, called “Schuhplatteln” which I still execute with pleasure and pep. Meanwhile I am also responsible for the dance program and the acquisition of new dances.

Hello, my name is Manuela Selisnik I am a new member of the folkdance group Lindwurm. Roland has tried to persuade me to dance in the group for 2 years. Again and again he said: "Come with me and try it!" "Do you really think I should do that?" "Yes, I am sure you will like it!" One day I thought "Why not?" and I have really liked it from the first rehearsal. It's great to dance, to move and to get acquainted with traditional folklore.

Besides I like the dancers of the group. They have accepted me from the beginning. Together we make excursions and we go hiking in our leisure. As I heard all the common events, performances and tournees are not only duties, the members of the group have always much fun together.

I feel that "community" is very important within the group and this is so essential in times like these. Dancing is a good compensation for my work in a travel agency, I meet many new friends, I like dancing and I really have to admit ... I should have followed Roland's persuasions earlier.
